Looking for American Airlines Tickets?
More patriotic than bald eagles and bacon, American Airlines has been leading the way in aviation since the 1930s. Nowadays, AA Airlines is responsible for more than 3,500 departures daily. Although this number seems staggeringly large, it makes sense considering that the company has 273 domestic and 51 international locations. Not only do they fly all over the world, but American Airlines strives to maintain a top of the line fleet all while implementing environmentally friendly policies. The only thing more American than that would be a picture of Abraham Lincoln eating a hot dog.

American Airlines Reservations
You probably aren’t going to get free apple pie on your American Airlines flights. You will get some awesome airfare deals and great inflight amenities, though. American Airlines has more planes in the sky than any of its competitors, meaning that there is a flight going your way that’s leaving soon and another one right behind it. So, get ready to buy your tickets and pack your bags; it’s almost time for takeoff.
Booking your travel on American is a breeze; simply enter your personal information, destination, and dates. Then, select the low-cost option that suits you the best. Before you can whistle Yankee Doodle, your reservations will be set. The only thing left will be to figure out what to pack.
When your travel day arrives, use the online American Airlines check in to print out your boarding pass. You’ll be through security so fast that you’ll have time for a cold one in the lounge before you get on the plane. We can’t promise you an inflight movie about baseball or the Revolutionary War, but saving time and money is about as American as it gets.
American Airlines Baggage Fees
There’s no easy way around it, the American Airlines baggage policy can be very confusing. You won’t need a slide rule, though; your best bet is to check the airline’s Web page for more detailed information.
Long story short, depending on your destination, frequent flyer status, and weight of your bags, you may or may not be charged for checked luggage. American Airlines baggage fees range anywhere from free to a couple hundred per bag. If you are a rewards club member of American or one of its affiliates, in the military, or travelling to South America or across the Atlantic or Pacific, there are no charges for your first bag (sorry U.S. and Mexico). Each bag thereafter costs money to check. If you have too many bags, you might want to look into hiring a moving company. You’re going on a vacation, not relocating, right?
The carry-on bag policy is much simpler. You can bring one carry-on bag (like an overnight suitcase) and one personal item (like a purse, briefcase, or backpack). Make sure everything you pack in them is approved to pass through security. For current restricted items information, you can check the American Airlines website. Now that you know what you can take and how much it will cost, get packing!
American Airlines Pet Policy
If your dog is your wingman or you simply cannot travel without your kitty, you are going to have to follow the American Airlines pet travel rules. Luckily, though, they aren’t as strict as those obedience training classes were for Fido.
As you might expect, registered service animals are good to go. Your guide dog or emotional-support ferret can fly with you for no charge. That beats having to calm your nerves with a cocktail and an Ambien. You won’t need to have a kennel or travel bag for your service animal, but they will have to remain out of the center aisle. People in the back need that beverage cart to be able to get through!
If you’re checking your pet, there is a fee and some breed restrictions for dogs and cats. Carry-on pets are also subject to a fee and must remain in an approved kennel for the duration of the flight. Be sure to refer to the updated American Airlines pet policy for a detailed list of allowed animals and fees. Don’t forget food and water for your furry traveling companion. Honey-roasted peanuts and airplane bottles of whiskey don’t make for the best inflight snacks for pets—just for pet owners.
American Airlines Rewards Program
This club isn’t hush-hush like the Illuminati and you don’t need to learn a secret handshake once you join. On the contrary, you’ll want to invite all of your friends to sign up, too. The American Airlines rewards AAdvantage® club is an amazing loyalty program with benefits worth shouting about. It’s simple to enroll, too. Just enter your personal information and set up your account on the airline’s website. You’ll be a part of the gang with just a few clicks.
Membership in the AAdvantage® program has some fantastic rewards. You can earn American Airlines miles by flying, shopping with the airline’s partners, and using the AAdvantage® credit card. Those miles can score you free flights and seat upgrades, as well as rental car and hotel deals. Plus, you can use your AAdvantage® status to save on vacation packages, baggage fees, and purchases at the airline’s Admiral Club lounges in select airports. Unlike some other airlines, you even get to share your miles with friends and family—not that you’d want to, but you can. Maybe the best thing about the American Airlines loyalty program is that it’s free to join. You start earning miles on your first flight. So, there’s no reason you shouldn’t sign up. Unless, that is, you don’t want to be in the cool kid club.
American Airlines Seat Information
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. That’s because you got an American Airlines upgrade to first-class! Enjoy the VIP treatment and complimentary warm towel. (Do they still do that?) What’s that, you didn’t opt for that upgrade? Don’t worry, you’ll still have great inflight amenities in the economy class seats, too.
Stay connected while cruising above the clouds with onboard Wi-Fi and electrical power outlets. If you left the laptop at home (hey, some people really do like to unplug while on vacation), you still have a few ways to be entertained in the air. Depending on your seat or destination, you may have a main overhead screen with an inflight movie or a personal in-seat video screen with access to tons of movies, television shows, radio stations, and video games. If that doesn’t do it for you, there’s always the crossword puzzle in the American Way magazine, provided someone didn’t already give it a try with pen during the previous flight.
Here’s a pro tip. When you are making your American Airlines seat selection, spend the few extra dollars for Main Cabin Extra seating. You’ll get six more inches of leg room, Group 1 boarding, and an earlier exit off the plane upon arrival. It’s like a business class seat without the business class price. A deal like that would make Donald Trump jealous.
