PLUNA was once the national flag carrier of Uruguay--que lindo! Founded in 1936, the company served routes in South America, North America, and Europe. PLUNA Airlines had its hub at the Carrasco International Airport (MVD) located in Montevideo. However, the airline was shut down in 2012. The company was temporarily owned by the government and failed to succeed financially, so it was liquidated shortly thereafter. Don’t worry, you can still make your travel plans a reality (unless your plans include hanging out with the President of the United States, keep dreaming).
